Ingredients
- 1 (14.3 oz) package Oreo cookies (about 36 cookies)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 16 oz white candy melts or white chocolate wafers
- Red sprinkles (jimmies or nonpareils)
- Blue sprinkles (jimmies or nonpareils)
Instructions
- Place Oreo cookies into a food processor and pulse until finely crushed. If you don’t have a food processor, place them in a large Ziploc bag and crush with a rolling pin.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the crushed Oreos and softened cream cheese. Mix with a spoon or your hands until well combined and a dough-like consistency is formed.
- Roll the mixture into 1-inch to 1.5-inch balls and place them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
- Refrigerate the Oreo balls for at least 30 minutes to firm up. This will help them hold their shape when dipping.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white candy melts according to package directions. Stir until smooth. Alternatively, use a double boiler for melting.
- Using a fork or a dipping tool, dip each chilled Oreo ball into the melted white chocolate, ensuring it’s fully coated. Gently tap off any excess chocolate.
- Place the coated ball back on the parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Immediately decorate with red and blue sprinkles before the chocolate sets.
- Once all the Oreo balls are dipped and decorated, refrigerate them again for another 15-20 minutes, or until the chocolate coating is completely set.
- Store the Patriotic Oreo Balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
