Ingredients

  • 1 (14.3 oz) package Oreo cookies (about 36 cookies)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 16 oz white candy melts or white chocolate wafers
  • Red sprinkles (jimmies or nonpareils)
  • Blue sprinkles (jimmies or nonpareils)

Instructions

  1. Place Oreo cookies into a food processor and pulse until finely crushed. If you don’t have a food processor, place them in a large Ziploc bag and crush with a rolling pin.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the crushed Oreos and softened cream cheese. Mix with a spoon or your hands until well combined and a dough-like consistency is formed.
  3. Roll the mixture into 1-inch to 1.5-inch balls and place them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
  4. Refrigerate the Oreo balls for at least 30 minutes to firm up. This will help them hold their shape when dipping.
  5. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white candy melts according to package directions. Stir until smooth. Alternatively, use a double boiler for melting.
  6. Using a fork or a dipping tool, dip each chilled Oreo ball into the melted white chocolate, ensuring it’s fully coated. Gently tap off any excess chocolate.
  7. Place the coated ball back on the parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Immediately decorate with red and blue sprinkles before the chocolate sets.
  8. Once all the Oreo balls are dipped and decorated, refrigerate them again for another 15-20 minutes, or until the chocolate coating is completely set.
  9. Store the Patriotic Oreo Balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
